Several plants abundant in South Hill Natural Area are introduced species that are invasive and ecologically dangerous. Invasive plants on South Hill rinclude multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora), European buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica), and shrub honeysuckle (Lonicera morrowii), among many others. Invasive species change their host ecosystems, and must be managed so that they don’t adversely affect native species.
